Non-Human Interaction, also known as NHI, encompass clicks generated during security scans conducted by an ISP's antivirus or security software. As the system traverses links within an email, it proceeds to access the designated website and scrutinizes its content, thereby influencing website analytics throughout the process. Clicks concluded as not associated with genuine human activity/interaction would be deemed as non-human interaction.

It is important to note that an activity could be regarded as non-human if it is considered abnormal or unexpected, whilst the recipient themselves could be 'real'. The NHI ruling is specific to the activity.

What are the classifications of NHI that we use?

Email Campaigns:

  4. Multiple clicks without opens (Recorded timestamp is less than a second apart from previous click without an open recorded between)

What does this mean for my statistics?

You can now view your statistics in a way that will be reflective of your legitimate clicks and opens on your campaigns, meaning you can chase leads based on their genuine interest as opposed to possibly inflated opens and clicks as a result of non-human interaction.

How can I view NHI in my campaigns?

You can access a view of your NHI activity and genuine activity from your 'Your campaigns'/'automated campaigns' report page per campaign. When you click on the hyperlinked text for opens and/or clicks you will now see a result of how your campaign faired in terms of NHI. As well as an alteration to how your stats are presented. We have automatically deducted NHI behaviour from your metrics for opens/clicks and unique metrics. The original statistics displayed below this new stat so you are able to see how your campaign would have originally been impacted by non-human interactions.

These changes are also reflected in SMS where you will notice a change to how metrics are displayed:

You can also export the statistics to view who the NHI classified contact was, and which activity this was by pressing 'download CSV Report'. After downloading this file there is now an extra 2 columns to show whether someone is or is not NHI and the classifier reason:

NHI is shown further in the platform when viewing a contact profile. You will see NHI associated with a contacts activity via the 'activity' section of this page. This page will show clicks and opens from campaign activity as well as web activity and whether this has been legitimate or classed as NHI.

Whilst accessing this activity, you can disagree or agree with the voting by clicking the thumbs down to 'Disagree' or thumbs up to 'agree' in the feedback action, this will dismiss this voting option informing us of any discrepancy with the non-human classification so we can make modifications based on this feedback.

Any data before this was turned on in your account will not be included in the NHI analysis. Only campaigns sent after this date will be included.
