  • SMS messages are charged at one credit per page, messages may exceed one page.

  • Character counts per page for standard messages are as follows:
  1. 160 for one page.
  2. 153 per page when multiple pages are used.

  • Character counts for Unicode messages are as follows:
  1. 70 for one page.
  2. 67 per page when multiple characters are used.

Preview

  • The preview provides an as-you-type view of the form of the SMS message and is only an approximation of the final message length when personalisation and/or Unicode characters are used.

URL Tracking And Shortening

  • URLs added as plain text in the SMS messages will be delivered as they are. If you want to save characters, make your message more readable and track web activity for the contact, you can take advantage of our URL shortening and tracking feature.

In order the enable the feature, the URL must be placed inside a URL placeholder which looks like the following:

[url=http(s)://someurl.co.uk] as in [url=http://force24.co.uk]

The URL will be replaced with a value similar to http://sm5.co/XXXXX, E.G.:

 [url=http://force24.co.uk] will become http://force24.co.uk?p_id=xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx and then http://sm5.co/yyyyyy

Opt Out

An opt-out link will automatically be added to your SMS. You can uncheck the option and manually add this if you prefer. This can be done by using the placeholder [OptOut] or <OptOut> . This will provide an sm5.co shortened link to the users contact preference centre. E.G.:

 "Stop [OptOut]" will become "Stop http://sm5.co/xxxxx" or "opt out [OptOut]" will become "opt out http://sm5.co/xxxxx"

International Sending

Any messages outside of the UK will be charged at the rate stated in your contract. If there is no specific rate stated then these will be charged at a multiple of your UK rate. This will be 2x for Germany, France, Italy & Spain, and 1.5x for all other countries.
